Just three days after Kevin Federline and his partner, Victoria Prince, entertained OK! at their rented North Sydney penthouse apartment, K-Fed was hospitalised with suspected cardiac arrest. His reps contacted us afterwards to assure us that all is well and that the measure was a precautionary one only – what a relief!
On our day with K-Fed, 33, there was no sign anything was amiss, with the softly spoken star appearing to be well on his way to shedding the ‘40-50 pounds’ [18-23kg] he’d hoped to lose on Channel Nine’s new program, Excess Baggage.
It’s not the first time this dancer/model/actor – and, of course, Britney Spears’ ex – has been on TV. In 2010, he shed 14kg on US show Celebrity Fit Club, but within a year, he’d piled the pounds back on. But this time, as a father to six-month-old daughter Jordan Kay, and four other children under 10, K-Fed is determined to keep it off for good.
Kevin’s ditched the pizza and 25 cans of soft drink he once enjoyed daily and is already looking trimmer. ‘Excess Baggage isn’t about weigh-ins so I don’t know how much weight I’ve lost, but the waistbands are definitely looser,’ Kev says proudly.
OK! is also pleased to report that Kevin is truly one of the nicest, most laid-back and down-to-earth celebs we’ve ever come across.
‘Yeah, I’m pretty real,’ he muses. ‘When I read stuff in the press about me being a party guy or whatever, I’m like, "Who is this guy?" Nowadays I’m all about getting my health back on track – for good – and being the best partner and dad I possibly can be for Victoria and all my kids.’
Kevin speaks exclusively to OK! about his daughter Jordan, nicknamed ‘Pretty Girl’, his love for former professional volleyball player Victoria, 29, and how he feels about Britney’s engagement…
Congrats! How does it feel to be a father of five?
Kevin: Awesome, thank you! Jordan’s been the easiest one out of all five of my kids. She’s the most chilled-out baby ever. All my kids are different – they all have their own characters and personalities. Every time with all my kids, it’s special.
How old are your other kids, and how have they taken to their new little sister?
Kevin: Kori is nine, Kaleb is seven [Kevin’s kids with ex Shar Jackson]; Sean Preston is six and Jayden is five [his sons with Britney Spears]. Yep, I’ve got my hands full! I haven’t dealt with a newborn for a little while, but Jordan has really been a blessing. And Victoria is a natural. I call her Supermum.
Victoria, how was your pregnancy and the birth?
I had a really straightforward, healthy pregnancy – everything went smoothly. The labour wasn’t as smooth as I’d hoped, though. It took 18.5 hours…
Kevin: She had a really long, hard labour, so painful. I was crying. I felt so bad for her.

But this week Kevin Federline accepted his toughest role to date when he joined me for an exclusive one-on-one for today's Sunday Bitch Slap.
K-Fed enjoyed a low-key dinner at the East End's Botanic Restaurant on Wednesday night.
He maintained a diplomatic response to questions about his pop princess ex, but he did have a chuckle when the background music at the restaurant included an acoustic cover of Britney's hit Womanizer, much to the dismay of Botanic staff.

KEVIN Federline loves our country so much that he's keen to become a regular part-time resident.
The former back-up dancer says he first fell in love with Australia when he toured with Pink in 2001 and now, having been back here since late last year, is eyeing a permanent part-time posting Down Under.
"That's the goal - I could definitely come out here for a couple of months a year," K-Fed, as he's affectionately known, told Confidential.
K-Fed is doing his best to convince his family of the merits of living in Australia.
For the first time during filming he's taking girlfriend Victoria Prince and five-month-old daughter Jordan across to KI. The happy family headed off to the idyllic SA holiday spot yesterday.
"This is the first trip (in Australia) that I've taken them on. I feel bad I've seen all these beautiful things, I want them to see the wildlife I have," K-Fed says.
The man once known as "Britney Spears' ex" says his recent weight loss is the icing on the (forbidden) cake - the former pasta and pizza fan has already dropped "between 10 and 12 kilos".
And while much has been made in the media of his recent health scares from heat exhaustion to a suspected heart attack, K-Fed says he will be "totally fine" as he moves forward in the series.
Despite recent suggestions that Excess Baggage's "no food lockdown" policy - under which contestants are free to eat what they want, drink and smoke - is to blame, the man himself says these days he's all about leading a balanced lifestyle.
"Getting healthy is a hard job to do (but) you have to enjoy yourself and I'm going to have a couple of glasses of wine with dinner," he says defiantly.

KEVIN Federline has picked up some Aussie habits since arriving down under in November to film Nine's new reality TV show Excess Baggage.
When his castmate Darren Lyons called during this afternoon's live blog with PerthNow he answered it in typical Australian fashion, by shortening his first name: "Daz! How's it goin'?"
Although the paparazzi have made life difficult for Britney Spears' ex-husband at times, he has a soft spot for the outspoken Lyons, who has made his fortune by snapping celebrities at their most vulnerable moments.
"People do what they they do for work. That's his job, it doesn't mean he is a horrible person," he said.
"I've actually grown really close to him, he’s a great guy. What you see is what you get, and upfront and real people are hard to come by, especially in Hollywood . I respect him a lot."
"He’s overcome one of the hardest things in life, and that’s death. He’s the same (as Lyons,) what you see is what you get. He’s a comedian at the same time."
Federline weighed in at 105 kilograms when filming began in the Kimberley. Although slimmer now, he still has some way to go half way through filming. But he is unaware of what he weighs, because the competitors progress is only measured by their body fat, lean muscle and waist circumference. He is also still struggling to quit smoking.
The father-of-five has high praise for his teammate, Atwell's Renae Pratt. The pair bonded over wanting to improve their health in order to become better parents.
"She’s a big inspiration to me. She’s been carrying me along on her back the last couple of weeks," he said.
Throughout his time in Australia, Federline has been using Skype to stay in touch with his children in Los Angeles.
During the blog, he answered a reader's question about he and Spears' relationship as co-parents, after they were locked in a bitter custody battle during her mental illness.
"Britney and I have come a long way," he said. "We get along really well and do everything we have to do to make sure our kids are raised right."
After starring in CSI, One Tree Hill and an American Pie sequel, Federline is keen to get back into acting when he returns to Los Angeles, and his hopeful of landing a role in a sitcom.

KEVIN Federline has been cleared of any heart problems and did not have a heart attack while on the set of Excess Baggage in Sydney last week.
Federline made news around the world after it was reported he had a heart attack, but doctors have cleared him of any major issues.
"Since Monday I got to see a cardiologist and get my heart checked out and everything is fine," he said.
"I didn't have a heart attack or anything like that, it's just one of those things."
Just exactly what caused Federline's pulse to race and the dancer to get cramp in one side is not clear, but K-Fed said the whole experience was worrying.
"I was terrified," he said.
"I could tell something wasn't right."
The scare made Federline realise going on Excess Baggage, which starts on Channel 9 tomorrow, was the right decision.
"One of the reasons why I'm doing this is because I don't want to worry about episodes like what happened on Monday," he said.
"The whole thing just makes me real cautious about what I'm doing and what I'm putting my body through."

Kevin was hospitalized over the weekend after a heart scare during a challenge for Excess Baggage, an Australian reality TV weight loss show.
E! News got an update on K-Fed's improving condition from the company that produces the show...
He got an all clear from the doctors and was allowed to go home. Good news!
So what sent him to the hospital in the first place?
The 33-year-old and producers of Excess Baggage became concerned with his extreme pulse rate and abnormal heart rate during a Week 6 challenge.
The show's medic took action, called an ambulance and Federline was rushed to the hospital as a "precautionary measure.
Late last year while working on the show, Federline was also hospitalized for "heat stress."
And while the backup dancer-turned-reality star seems to be on the mend, producers tell us Federline plans to undergo further tests with a cardiologist.
